Which is better: Rail travel or airplanes travel?

Rail travel can be more convenient than air travel today, particularly in terms of check in times, and some travelers may simply prefer train travel. Passengers are allowed three pieces of luggage on trains in the UK, two larger items and a smaller piece of hand luggage. Excess luggage may be carried for an extra cost, as can some larger items. Check in via many rail travel companies is quite quick, with Eurostar and others estimating a less than 30 minute check in time. Business travelers in particular may find this speed and efficiency helpful.

    Your arguments in favouring rail travel over planes are totally insignificant compared to the contrary arguments. The rail industry needs to totally change its ideas and make huge investments to win customers from the airlines.

    The IPCC
    Nobelly
    Does not deny
    That it’s rather disturbing
    That carbon needs curbing
    Lest billions die.

    I rail against planes
    Live grounded, preach trains
    Such principles imply:
    Be where you are;
    The lure of the far
    Is a marketeer’s lie.

    When I leave home
    I Less flit, and more roam;
    Avoiding the sky
    Though sea options are slim
    (Cruise-link, or swim)
    Few folks even try.

    A long day on the train
    Would not be such pain
    Were planes not hatching the sky.
    But nobody cares
    To doze in those chairs
    Vertebrae awry.

    The airline prices
    By devious devices
    Are half as high,
    Cos all the world lacks
    A kerosene tax:
    Fuel duty does not apply

    I could telecompute
    If rail didn’t refute
    A 2nd class power supply
    The trains have neglected
    To be really connected.
    But planes have wifi!

    And booking on-line
    For planes is just fine,
    But trains make me cry.
    Databases disagree,
    Lacking usability;
    Fuck it, I’ll fly!
